The Armoury is a community gym that seeks to create a culture which nurtures the Physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of those participating.

PURPOSE

As a society, we are starting to understand the benefits to mental health of improving physical health.  However, commercial gyms can be very macho places, which all but the fittest are put off from attending and little space is given to the overall wellbeing of the individual.

The Armoury has provided a community where people are not judged on what they look like, how far they can run, what they say but on who they truly are. We value people and progress, over perfection.

VISION

The Armoury does focus on physical health but also seeks to create a culture which nurtures the mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of those participating in three key areas:
• Encouraging interaction between members

• Creating time and space for conversation and community

• Welcoming, friendly and fun classes for all abilities socials to encourage belonging

History

History

Founder Jon Taylor has a vision of creating a
supportive, Christian culture in the gym. The core ethos is that it focuses on mental well-being as well as physical fitness.

Jon realised that the support he found in church was not being found in other hubs of culture, such as gyms. This lack of conversation, community and support saddened Jon, inspiring him to create a gym that sought to serve the physical, mental and social needs of communities and those not in churches.
